How to reduce energy consumption in industry?

Both ecological and economic, the issue of reducing energy consumption concerns all industries. Effective solutions can help companies rationalize their consumption while optimizing industrial processes.

BIBUS France offers high-performance technologies that can be integrated into the production process to adapt air or oil flow rates and pressures in pneumatic or hydraulic systems to actual requirements.

I / CKD: a high-performance range for fluid flow control

With the aim of offering high-performance, reliable technologies, BIBUS France distributes solutions designed by the Japanese brand CKD, experts in the manufacture of compressed air treatment equipment. As part of a strategy to reduce energy consumption, the integration of flow limiters and the Air Booster booster into the production process offers day-to-day benefits.

        ● DVL series flow limiters with vernier adjustment.
A range of flow limiters is available to control and adjust the gas flow in a system. Thanks to the adjustment vernier, the operator can easily and precisely modify the size of the throttle inside the limiter to regulate the speed at which compressed air flows to avoid excessive, unnecessary flow and over-consumption of energy.

Thanks to their low kinetic load, restrictors reduce wear and tear on systems, making movements more stable and reliable.
The integrated check valve can be used as a speed control valve or vacuum shut-off valve for pneumatic cylinders.
CKD flow control valves are used in a wide range of industrial applications, including compressed air flow control in control systems, industrial cooling, and precise liquid dosing in chemical processes, cleanrooms or vacuum installations.

       ● CKD ABP2-HP1 Air Booster.
Its integration makes it possible to adapt air pressure to the specific needs of the industrial process by increasing the pressure of the compressed air generated by a compressor to supply pneumatic systems at the end of the line.

By equipping their plant with the Air Booster CKD, companies reduce overall system energy consumption by optimizing the power of the main compressor.  The main compressor can operate at a lower, more efficient pressure, and the booster eliminates the need for it to run at full speed continuously to meet the high-pressure requirements of the air circuits.

It also eliminates the need to invest in a larger compressor. The Air Booster can be fitted with a 5-liter or 10-liter air tank. And there's no machine downtime due to maintenance.

II / Better energy management with Daikin Inverter technology and IPM motors

Daikin's hybrid systems combine its two areas of expertise: air conditioning and hydraulics. Inverter and IPM motor technology harness these two energy sources to optimize energy efficiency.
The energy-saving principle is based on the fact that the motor generates the flow required to meet demand, thanks to the cutting-edge technology of the IPM (Interior
Permanent Magnet) motor. This is an internal permanent magnet synchronous motor that controls and adjusts the motor's rotation speed.
Hydraulic units such as AK coolers, the hybrid Super Unit and Ecorich series are designed to modulate power between electrical and hydraulic sources according to the specific needs of the industrial process, enabling significant energy savings.

Daikin's hybrid series

        ● Super Unit model
It consists of a fixed-flow pump coupled to a high-efficiency IPM motor drive system that uses air-conditioning motor technologies and an inverter enabling energy reduction of up to 50% when pressure is maintained (compared to the standard Daikin piston pump). This energy reduction is due to the IPM motor's low rotation speed (up to 10 rpm) or its total stoppage when no oil flow is required. This technology makes it possible to control the flow rate and pressure of fixed-flow pumps. This increases the energy efficiency of industrial installations equipped with actuators (cylinders, motors, etc.).
Using a control panel, an operator can select from 4 to 16 pressure and flow adjustment models to suit requirements and avoid over-consumption. An automatic adjustment system can control pressures to reduce shock when changing flow or pressure.

       ● The Ecorich hydraulic power plant.
Its motor is designed to use less electricity and produce the same power as a conventional motor. The low rotation of the motor when maintaining pressure helps to reduce energy consumption and noise levels. Energy losses, especially heat losses, are minimized; which also means that more energy is used to do useful work.
The design of the Ecorich hydraulic power unit optimizes motor power by adjusting it as needed. It also helps to extend oil life and reduce waste to be processed, as less oil circulates through the system reducing heating and tank size.

       ● The cooling unit / AK series coolers
The cooling unit complements various industrial applications, notably in machining centers, on machine tools for CNC lathes, for hydraulic press machines, molders, grinders or EDM machines.
The AK series coolers are high-precision models, featuring a compressor controlled by inverter technology, which controls the hydraulic oil temperature. They automatically adjust the cooling capacity to +/- 0.1°C according to actual requirements, minimizing heat loss and requiring less energy to maintain appropriate temperatures, avoiding overconsumption due to temperature fluctuations.

Companies wishing to make better use of energy in production processes are well advised to equip their installations with high-performance solutions for regulating and controlling fluid flows. Taken together, these required controls contribute to greater machine energy efficiency and improved productivity.
